Endodontics

Endodontics is the specialist branch of dentistry that deals with diseases of the tooth foundation, that is, the tooth root, dental pulp and surrounding tissue.

Teeth are composed of a hard structure surrounding a soft, living tissue called the pulp (also called the nerve). The pulp contains blood vessels, fibres and nerves. The pulp can become diseased or injured and is unable to repair itself. An infected nerve can be painful, cause swelling and there is a risk of spreading infection to surrounding tissues.

The most common procedure done by an Endodontist is root canal therapy which is the removal of the diseased pulp tissue. This is commonly a multi-stage procedure and it provides enormous relief to patients who are in pain due to the infection within their tooth. Our Endodontist performs this fine and detailed work using a sophisticated operating microscope.

Our Endodontist is also an expert in the diagnosis of tooth pain and related problems such as cracked tooth syndrome.
